Description:
This interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Workshop participants will learn how to:

•    Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
•    Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
•    Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
•    Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
•    Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.

Facilitator Background:

Dina is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer with over 30 years of experience in education. She has taught every grade level - pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade - as well as college level students, teachers and parents. For nine years she served as the principal of an Adlerian elementary/middle school whose staff incorporated the Positive Discipline principles including classroom meetings. Currently, Dina works as a Certified Professional Coach with individuals and organizations who want to maximize their effectiveness. She incorporates Positive Discipline ideas and strategies into her practice, and also presents Positive Discipline workshops to schools and agencies around the world.

Dina has presented at educational conferences in the U.S. and Canada. Her practical experience with Positive Discipline is extensive, and she raised her two children using these principles. She has also experienced the effects of Positive Discipline first hand as a classroom teacher and school principal, along with teaching numerous classes and workshops for teachers, school administrators, and parents. A few of her most popular topics for lectures and workshops include the following:

  • How to Become Your Child’s Advocate
  • 7 Secrets of Clear Communication
  • How to Encourage Your Child
  • Building Responsible Children
  • Understanding Your Child’s Goal of Misbehavior
  • Graceful Exits - Dealing with Power Struggles
  • Positive Discipline in the Classroom
  • Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way

In addition to Dina’s vast educational experience, she brings her personal, charismatic style as a presenter. She has been characterized as "warm, supportive and encouraging - a ‘real’ person with something important to say to educators and parents in a way that can be heard!"

Dina is the author of Trusting the Fortune Within and Co-Author with Stephen Covey and Ken Blanchard of Roadmap To Success.
