    Workshop Description:
This interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who are looking to develop long-term discipline solutions that are respectful to everyone. Positive Discipline in the Classroom is a Classroom Management program that empowers teachers (adaptable to all ages) with skills to build their students’ sense of community, learn problem-solving skills that focus on solutions, and enhance academic learning. Experiential learning methods give teachers skills to help students practice better cooperation, social skills, self-direction, responsibility, and mutual respect in the classroom.
    This workshop will help you:

    •    Use simple, practical tools for engaging and challenging your students
    •   Develop a large teaching toolbox to help students problem solve effectively and respectfully
    •    Bring more value and connection to your classroom/school environmen
    •    Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change
    •    Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving
    •    Integrate problem solving tools within general education curriculum

    Facilitator Background:
I have been a credentialed elementary school teacher and parent educator for over 20 years. I received my B.A from U.C.L.A. and my M.A. in Education from Columbia University. Through my work with teachers, parents, educators, therapists, doctors, nurses, lawyers, scientists and artists, I have come to see that Positive Discipline is the most comprehensive and useful set of life skills and tools one can have today.

Looking ahead, Positive Discipline will become a primary tool used to support the new Common Core Curriculum being implemented around the country. Positive Discipline curriculum supports more thoughtful problem solvers, the ability to deeply connect to one's learning experience, the knowledge of how to come to peaceful resolutions and the appreciation for encouraging intrinsically vs. extrinsically motivation towards learning. Moreover, Positive Discipline provides the opportunity to promote leadership while empowering relationships among children and adults of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and religions.
