This two-day workshop is designed for new and experienced parent educators to gain the information and skills to become Certified Positive Discipline Parenting Educators.
The workshop provides effective tools and resources for therapists who want to offer Positive Discipline parenting classes for their clients and/or use Adlerian based concepts and strategies in their sessions. It supports school personnel, nurses, counselors, youth workers and others who deal with parents, children and young people; and it provides insight and strategies for parents with children of all ages who want to learn to parent effectively for today’s world.
Participants will learn to facilitate experiential activities in group and individual settings. They will learn research-based, effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to build respectful relationships and use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time, neither punitive nor permissive. They will gain a set of resource materials adaptable for use with all age and focus groups; therapeutic relationships; parenting and mentor programs.
Cost: General Public -- $375 Early Registration received and paid by Sept. 11, 2013, Regular Registration $425. Registration fee for non-students includes a complete curriculum, Positive Discipline book, and the Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way Facilitator's manual.
Adler School Students -- $250 Regular Registration. This fee DOES NOT include books. Please notify facilitator if you want to order books. Please bring books if you already own them.
Dina is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer with over 30 years of experience in education. She has taught every grade level - pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade - as well as college students, teachers and parents. For nine years she served as the principal of an Adlerian elementary/middle school whose staff incorporated the Positive Discipline principles including classroom meetings. Currently Dina works as a Certified Professional Coach with individuals and organizations who want to maximize their effectiveness. She incorporates Positive Discipline ideas and strategies into her practice, and also presents Positive Discipline workshops to schools and agencies nationally and internationally.
Dina has presented at educational conferences in the U.S. and Canada. Her practical experience with Positive Discipline is extensive, and she raised her two children using these principles. She has also experienced the effects of Positive Discipline first hand as a classroom teacher and school principal, along with teaching numerous classes and workshops for teachers, school administrators, and parents. Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.
Special Events, Teleconferences and Merchandise: For all other items or events, the processing fee will be 10% of the purchase price or a minimum of $5. Otherwise, the same policy applies.
