    Facilitator Information:
    Noha Alshugairi
    , M.S., is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in Newport Beach, CA. She frequently facilitates trainings and workshops for mental health professionals and the community at large. Her strong foundation in Islamic sciences guides her work in helping families integrate faith and culture. Noha is passionate about teaching PD to parents and teachers alike. Taking a teen parenting class based on Adlerian principles was instrumental in changing her dynamic with her children as they entered the teen years. Knowing that the class smoothed those difficult years in her home, it has become a personal mission for her to teach and spread PD. She received her B.A. in Zoology from Rutgers University in 1986, and her M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Fullerton, in 2007. Since becoming certified as a Positive Discipline Trainer in 2008, she has conducted numerous trainings for parents and teachers. She has been married for 32 years, and has four adult children and one grandson.

    Omneya Askar is a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer .A former school teacher, she is currently the principal of Resala School, Cairo, Egypt. As the mother of four daughters, she brings a vast amount of personal experiences to the implementation of Positive Disicpline at home and at school. Omneya delivered many parenting workshops and has trained more than 300 teachers in many national and international schools. She is the first to introduce the PDC in Egypt. To date, more than 100 people had their standard PDC training with her and became Certified PDC Educators. Currently, she is working hard toward getting her school to be a Positive Discipline School Model ,and her ultimate vision is to spread the PD philosophy to as many people as she can to develop respectful relationships in families, schools and community.

    Workshop Information:
    Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.
    Participants in this workshop will:
    1. Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive).
    2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.
    3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.
    4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families. 

    Who should attend?
    Parents who are looking for deeper understanding of the process of raising children. Passionate individuals who would like to help parents connect with their children. Social workers, psychologists, therapists, coaches, counselors, educators, teachers, nurses, community leaders, and other professionals working with parents, children and adolescents. 

    As a CPDPE you will: 

    1. Facilitate parenting classes. 
    2. Offer introductory talks and lectures. 
    3. Gain practice facilitating group experiential activities and discussions 
    4. Learn engaging activities that get parents talking, engaged, and focused on solutions 
    5. Help parents use relationship tools to connect with their children. 
    6. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families. 
    7. Have a set of tools and materials adaptable to different ages and groups. 

    Methodology
    The workshops are interactive. Participants learn through role-plays, open ended questions, and experiential activities. Workshops are fun and playful while at the same time allowing for deep understanding and dramatic paradigm shifts.Classes provide opportunities for parents to find solutions to real life challenges.

    Cost: $390 (3500 LE) until Oct 15, 2016; $445 (4000 LE)

    This interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to:

    1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
    2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
    3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
    4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
    5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.
    6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.
