    Becky is a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator, and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. She trains staff at schools in Positive Discipline, delivers Positive Discipline classes and workshops to parents, teaches social emotional learning lessons to students, and applies the Positive Discipline principles at home with her own family.  She believes that a community approach to education benefits everyone and makes it easier to help families, schools, and organizations grow children into responsible, respectful, and happy adults.
               
    Workshop Description:

    Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.

    Participants in this workshop will:

    1. Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive).

    2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.

    3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.

    4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families.

    Workshop Description:

    This two-day interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to:

    1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
    2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
    3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
    4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
    5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.
    6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.

    Facilitator Background:

    Lois Ingber is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer. She has 30+ years experience providing counseling, coaching and consulting services for families and schools, and in the wider community. Lois is a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops on the topics of Positive Discipline and Adlerian Psychology and is co-author with Jody McVittie, M.D. of "BRIDGES – Building Relationships for Improved Discipline, Academic Gains and Effective Schools - A Student-Centered Approach for Building Skills and Accountability." Lois currently serves as Liaison to China for the Positive Discipline Association and is now a member of the PDA Board of Directors. Lois believes that learning and using the skills of mutually respectful relationships is the key to personal and social harmony, and of mental health.

    Marta Rodriguez-Lopez is a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom and Parenting Educator, and Positive Discipline Trainer Candidate. She teaches Positive Discipline parenting classes and offers presentations in schools. Marta currently works as a teacher's aide and sees the effectiveness of the tools of mutual respect in building trust and cooperation in the classroom, and in enhancing openness to academic learning.

    JULIE IRANINEJAD, M.Ed. is a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator, a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator, and a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer who trains Parent Educators and Classroom Teachers for the Positive Discipline Association. Julie has a Masters of Education in Montessori/Early Childhood Education and has many years of teaching experience. She holds current teaching certificates in early childhood education, elementary education, and bilingual education, as well as Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) diplomas in Infancy and Primary Montessori. She is a Virtues Project Facilitator and has helped encourage and empower families and communities in character education for fifteen years.     LOIS INGBER, LCSW, CPDLT, has over 30 years experience providing services to children, youth, families and adults in clinic, school, hospital, social service and private practice settings. Lois uses POSITIVE DISCIPLINE and Adlerian Psychology (on which it is based) in all of her work in counseling, parent education and as a trainer and consultant to schools and other professionals. Lois is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer for both parent and teacher education. She has counseled youth and families involved in the juvenile justice system and special education. Lois has been an administrator in social services and counseling programs, supervising staff and interns. Lois is a frequent presenter at conferences and workshops, and is co-author with Jody McVittie, M.D. of "BRIDGES – Building Relationships for Improved Discipline, academic Gains and Effective Schools" – a Student-Centered Approach for Building Skills and Accountability." She has current public school certifications in early childhood education, elementary education, bilingual education and English as a Second Language.  She is the co-chair of the Positive Discipline Mentor Group of Southern California and spends most of her professional time working with teachers and parents in individualized coaching sessions, classes, workshops and teacher in-services.

    Workshop Description:

    This two-day interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to:

    1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.

    2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.

    3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.

    4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.

    5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.

    6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.

    CEsThis program is co-sponsored by the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology(NASAP). NASAP is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists.  Thirteen Clock hours. There is no additional fee for CE's through NASAP.

    Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.
