    Facilitator Description:
    Becky is a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator, and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. She trains staff at schools in Positive Discipline, delivers Positive Discipline classes and workshops to parents, teaches social emotional learning lessons to students, and applies the Positive Discipline principles at home with her own family. She believes that a community approach to education benefits everyone and makes it easier to help families, schools, and organizations grow children into responsible, respectful, and happy adults.

    Workshop Description: 
    Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.

    Participants in this workshop will:

    1. Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive).
    2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.
    3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.
    4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families.

    This interactive training workshop is designed for parents, teachers, parent educators, caregivers, counselors, therapists, nurses and others who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging behaviors. Upon successful completion of this workshop, participants will be certified as Positive Discipline Parent Educators.

    Positive Discipline focuses on discipline that teaches:

    Children feel a sense of connection, belonging and significance It is kind and firm at the same time and effective long- term It teaches important social and life skills and teaches children to use their power constructively and discover that they are capable.

    Participants in this workshop will:

She is the co-chair of the Positive Discipline Mentor Group of Southern California and spends most of her professional time working with parents, parent educators and teachers in individualized coaching sessions, classes, workshops and teacher in-services.

    Aisha Pope is a Clinical Social Worker licensed in California. She offers individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as parent coaching, parenting classes, and other consulting services.     Mary Nelsen-Tamborski, wife and mother of three young boys, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Intern at Roots and Wings Counseling and Consulting in San Diego. She is also a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer and Parenting Coach.
    Mary’s formal training is secondary to the life training she received from her mother, Dr. Jane Nelsen, a Marriage and Family Therapist and author of the Positive Discipline books. From the earliest time she can remember her mother and father had her involved in respectful communication, encouragement, and focusing on solutions.
    Mary is co-author of the “Keeping the Joy in Marriage Tool Cards” and eBook of the same title, with her mother, Jane Nelsen. She is a popular keynote speaker and workshop presenter, and offers many Positive Discipline Parenting classes.

    Facilitator Background:

    Lisa FullerM.S.W., Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, Certified Professional Coach, has been facilitating parenting classes in the East Bay for many years. She is a compassionate listener who is committed to empowering parents through Positive Discipline's common sense principles. Having three children ages 20, 16 and 9, Lisa is steeped in the challenges and joys of parenting. Lisa also offers one on one coaching for parenting and life! She is also a Certified Daring WayTM Facilitator.

    Catherine, M.S., Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, Montessori Administrator Credential, Certified Integral Coach, is an executive and personal coach focusing on helping people thrive and become skillful in taking meaningful action at work, home, and in life. She has been facilitating parenting workshops for 9 years and has over 20 years of leadership and teaching experience at the early childhood through graduate school levels. Catherine lives in the East Bay with her partner and children ages 11 and 14.

    Workshop Descriptions:
    Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way (developed by Lynn Lott and Jane Nelsen) is a research-based parent education program that provides a step-by-step approach to starting and leading experientially based parenting groups. This program stands alone or offers significant enhancement to any program. It provides experiential activities that reach the heart to inspire deeper understanding and change.

    Participants in this workshop will:

    1. Learn research based effective tools for teaching parents how to use Positive Discipline at all stages of their children's development

    2. Build on experiences as parents, teachers, counselors, caregivers, nurses, therapists, and administrators learning how to facilitate parenting classes with extensive reference materials and resources

    3. Gain practice facilitating experiential activities and discussions

    4. Develop cultural competency for working with families in group and individual settings

    5. Become a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator (CPDPE). 13 CEUs offered from California Board of Behavioral Sciences

    Cost: $375 early registration (received and paid by 12/29/2016),  $425 regular registration.

    CE's:
    This workshop meets qualifications for 13 hrs. of Continuing Education credit for MFCCs and LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, Provider Number. PCE 3902.

    Positive Discipline Association has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider. ACEP No. 6723. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  Positive Discipline Association is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
