Workshop Description:This interactive workshop is designed for teachers, counselors, school staff and administrators who want an effective discipline approach that integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging student behaviors. Attendees will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Classroom Educator and will learn to:
1. Develop a large teaching toolbox of kind and firm discipline approaches.
2. Establish explicit classroom structures and procedures.
3. Create an equitable classroom community based on mutual respect.
4. Understand the motivation behind students' misbehavior and how to encourage positive change.
5. Facilitate effective class meetings teaching social skills and problem-solving.
6. Learn Positive Discipline/Adlerian Psychology for use in the classroom and school community.
Julia Tomes is a former elementary and middle school teacher, parent educator since 2008, and Certified Positive Discipline Trainer.
Steven Foster is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, parent educator since 2001, co-author of Positive Discipline for Children with Special Needs, and a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer.

This workshop is an 8 week course rather than the traditional two-day workshop.
Graduate Credit/CEU's will be available through Portland State University for an additional small fee.
Other Information: If you are flying, please to not make flight arrangements until the minimum number have enrolled. The Facilitator or our office staff will let you know as soon as that happens. Specific class details will be sent to participants prior to the workshop.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Workshop Registrations: A full refund (minus a $35 processing fee) will be given when the request for a refund is made up to 30 days prior to the first day of a workshop. Refunds are not available for cancellations less than 30 days before a workshop. However, paid registrants can transfer to another workshop within one year at no additional cost. Refunds are not available after a transfer is made or if you do not provide advanced notice that you will not be attending the workshop.
