    Facilitator Information: 
    Saleha is a Positive Discipline Trainer certified in parenting, classroom and early childhood. She holds a National Early Childhood and a Childcare Director credential as well as an American Montessori Society (AMS) diploma for ages 2.5 through 6. With 20 + years of experience as a teacher, she continues to be passionate about working with young children in the
    classroom. Saleha offers Positive Discipline classes within her community of parents and education professionals in Florida and she is excited about sharing Positive Discipline more widely.

    Workshop Description:  

    This interactive on-line live workshop is designed for early childhood educators, teachers, and caregivers who work with children from birth to six years of age. (Parents will also find this workshop helpful; however, the focus is on early childhood education.) Participants will learn to apply the principles and tools of Positive Discipline, an Adlerian research-based philosophy, to working with groups of young children. They will also gain a deeper understanding of how young children learn, the importance of belonging and social and emotional learning, and how best to teach those skills in a classroom or care setting. Participants will earn recognition as Certified Positive Discipline Early Childhood Educators and will learn to:

    1. Create a classroom or care setting where children can develop a sense of belonging and significance based on the importance of contribution and mutual respect.
    2. Understand how young children learn and how to adapt teaching to the needs of this age group.
    3. Foster essential social and emotional skills to support development and school readiness, and understand behavior and how to guide it in groups of young children.
    4. Teach the essential skills for developmentally appropriate participation in class meetings.
    5. Learn Positive Discipline and Adlerian concepts for use in the classroom, preschool community, and with parents.

    Participants in this workshop will: 

    1. Learn research based effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive). 
    2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert. 
    3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children. 
    4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes and individual work with families.

    Dina Emser is a Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer and Certified Professional Coach, with over 30 years of experience in education. She began her career as a classroom teacher and school principal and later branched out to training and coaching. She has presented training in leadership on four continents and was an Adjunct Professor at Adler University in Chicago. Dina has served on several non-profit organization boards of directors. She co-created Empowering People in the Workplace, with Positive Discipline founder, Dr. Jane Nelsen which focuses on Adlerian psychology principles in business, available in 5 languages. Dina wrote Trusting the Fortune Within, Roadmap to Success with Stephen Covey and Ken Blanchard.     Facilitator Information: 

    Teresa LaSala is a Positive Discipline Lead Trainer and co-author of the Positive Discipline in the School and Classroom manual used in this certification course. For over 20 years, she has led high-impact trainings for educators, counselors, and school leaders, equipping them with evidence-based tools to improve student behavior, foster respectful relationships, and build inclusive, emotionally safe school communities. Her sessions are interactive, practical, and grounded in the Adlerian principles at the heart of Positive Discipline.
    Teresa's work extends nationally and internationally, with participants from across the globe attending her workshops. She provides consultation, coaching, and long-term support to schools, families, agencies, and community organizations seeking to embed social-emotional learning and restorative practices into everyday practice.
    She currently serves as a School Culture and Climate Specialist with the School Culture and Climate Initiative at Saint Elizabeth University's Center for Human and Social Development and as a Whole Child Faculty Member and Regional Specialist with ASCD, an international educational leadership organization.

    With a background as a licensed nurse specializing in family and pediatric care and over two decades of experience in child development, Teresa brings a uniquely holistic and compassionate lens to her work. A passionate child advocate, she is deeply committed to modeling and living the Adlerian philosophy in both her professional and personal life.

    Kathleen McClay is a Positive Discipline Trainer and co-founder of Positive Discipline New Jersey. Since 2010, she has facilitated dynamic and engaging workshops for educators, counselors, and parents, equipping adults with research-based tools to foster respectful relationships, strengthen classroom communities, and support students' social and emotional development.
    With many years of experience as a preschool director and teacher, along with a degree in special education, Kathleen brings both practical insight and deep understanding to her work. She is passionate about helping children become capable, confident, and contributing members of their classrooms—starting in early childhood and extending far beyond.
    Kathleen serves as a School Culture and Climate Specialist with the School Culture and Climate Initiative, based at the Center for Human and Social Development at Saint Elizabeth University, and is a member of the United Way Success By 6 Social Emotional Learning Team. In these roles, she collaborates with schools and districts to cultivate safe, inclusive, and engaging climates that support the success and well-being of all students.

    Lora is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Supervisor (LPC-S) and Positive Discipline Trainer. She is the Founder and Co-Owner of Austin Family Counseling, a group therapy practice in Austin, TX. Lora uses PD in both a private counseling setting in her work at Austin Family Counseling, and through workshops with parents, educators, and caregivers in the community.     Facilitator Information:  I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, and have spent the past twenty-seven years teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) in various international settings. Prior to settling in Düsseldorf, I lived and worked in Paris, Trondheim, Brooklyn, Taipei, and Osaka.
    My husband and I chose to return to Germany in order to be closer to family upon starting our own.
