Facilitator Information:

Deborah Owen-Sohocki (MS, LPC, CPDLT) is a senior Master Trainer (Lead Trainer) with the Positive Discipline Association (PDA), a licensed psychotherapist, author, and international Adlerian psychology master practitioner. Since 1972, she has accumulated extensive experience working across all educational levels, from early childhood to high school, as well as in adult education. As the founder of Regenerative Living LLC, she specializes in emotional self-regulation, resilience, and encouragement-based leadership for parents, educators, and organizations. Co-author of Positive Discipline: A Teacher's A–Z Guide alongside Jane Nelsen, an ICASSI faculty member, and a certified HeartMath® trainer, Owen-Sohocki has been training Positive Discipline practitioners and educators worldwide for over three decades.

Burak Alptekin (CPDT) is a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, Co-Founder of Positive Discipline Türkiye, and a member of the Adler Institute. With nearly two decades of teaching experience across primary to high school levels, he leads international projects, facilitates corporate workshops, and delivers keynote speeches across Türkiye.
Burak's journey into Positive Discipline began through his own parenting experience—facing the universal challenges, frustration, and isolation that come with raising children, and seeking evidence-based, compassionate solutions. Recognizing the profound impact of Adlerian principles on family dynamics, he dedicated his career to empowering others. Today, Burak has trained hundreds of parents and educators while inspiring a digital community of thousands through his platform, @pozitifbaba.

Workshop Description:

This is an online interactive and streamed video workshop designed for parent educators, teachers, therapists, childcare professionals and others who want an effective discipline approach. This method is based on Adlerian Psychology and integrates social and emotional learning while reducing challenging behaviors. Successful participants will earn recognition as a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator and will:

  1. Learn research based and effective tools and techniques for teaching parents how to use discipline that is kind and firm at the same time (non-punitive, non-permissive)
  2. Learn how to facilitate a parent class from the position of a non-expert.
  3. Gain practice with experiential exercises that help parents go beyond intellectual understanding to be able to respond in empowering ways that teach children.
  4. Learn how to use materials and activities in group settings, parenting classes, and individual work with families.
